You don’t remain a successful asphalt paving contractor for three decades unless you are doing something right. We know that “something right” is our founder’s advice to” take care of the customer and provide an affordable, quality asphalt service.” That advice has worked for over 30 years and we have no intention of changing it now.

If you have an asphalt driveway paving project, a parking lot that needs resurfaced, or if your HOA needs help with its roads, we can help. We can make it easy.

Quality, Affordability, Durability Without the Hassle, the Mess, and the Worries

It’s no accident that our Clifton customers keep sending us referrals. We are organized, equipped, and staffed to provide best-in-class asphalt paving service. Combine that with a genuine concern for our customer’s expectations and you have a contractor that you can trust to deliver real value.

Here’s how we do it:

  • In Virginia, licensing is often an area where some contractors try to scrimp by with a lesser qualification. It saves a few dollars. At Standard Paving we don’t take shortcuts on anything. We hold a Virginia Class A Contractor license and we are in full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Standard Paving understands its responsibilities as a business. We carry $2 million in general liability insurance. In addition, and this is important, we have coverage for workman’s compensation. If a worker is injured on your project, and your contractor does not have work comp, or uses day labor, that worker could look to your liability coverage to take care of his injuries.
  • We don’t subcontract any part of a job. We own all our equipment including self-leveling pavers, vibrating asphalt rollers, asphalt distributor trucks, excavation equipment, dump trucks etc.
  • Most importantly, all our crews are made up of talented, dedicated employees committed to customer satisfaction. They take exceptional pride in their work. A fact that becomes evident when you see the final product.

At the end of the day, it is our talented operators, drivers, and hand finishers, their willingness to work non-stop, and their pride in delivering the best asphalt product in the Clifton area that makes our service so exceptional.

Standard Paving – Specialists in Tar and Chip Paving

While most of our work involves hot asphalt paving, in the Clifton area we get a fair number of requests for tar and chip paving. Tar and chip Paving, also known as macadam or chip seal, is an old paving technique that is still popular because of it provides an all-weather, maintenance free, rock hard surface for significantly less than hot asphalt. If you have a gravel road or parking lot, you have a mud hole in winter and a dust bowl in summer. Tar and chip paving can fix that for less than you think.

Not every asphalt paving contractor has the experience or equipment to do tar and chip paving. We do.

Macadam differs from hot asphalt in that the ingredients are mixed at the site rather than coming premixed from a batch plant. We make sure you have a firm, level base to apply the tar and chip. This may involve leveling up low spots, filling in holes, even compacting if necessary. Once the base is established, a distributor truck lays down an even layer of liquid asphalt. That’s followed by a truck that drops chipped gravel on the surface. The gravel is embedded into the asphalt by a commercial compressor creating the rock hard surface.

Macadam is a lighter color and has a different texture than premixed asphalt (see our photo galleries). If you think this may be a fix for your paving needs, give us a call and we will arrange for an experienced estimator to visit your site.

Asphalt Driveway Paving and Maintenance

Standard Paving is equipped and has the resources to tackle any asphalt project large or small. Not surprisingly, we do a lot of asphalt driveway paving projects in Clifton. Your asphalt driveway plays a surprisingly big role in your home’s curb appeal and resale value. A driveway that is cracked, crumbling, puddles water or is graying out, plays havoc on your home’s appearance and potential resale value.

At Standard Paving we can help you with that.

When you call us, our estimator will visit your site, inspect it, and let you know what your options are. Sometimes, if the problem is simply cosmetic with small cracks, stains, and low spots, it can be brought back to nearly new condition with simple maintenance. We fill in cracks, level up low spots, cover stains with a primer, and then put down a layer of sealant. The sealant protects the surface from UV rays and other climate challenges, helps extend the life of the asphalt, and leaves a beautiful dark finish to the driveway.

If repaving is called for, preparation of the base is similar to that of Tar and chip paving. When the base is solid, hot asphalt is applied using a self-propelled paver. That’s followed by an industrial, steel drum, vibrating roller, to form a hard surface. Hand tools are used to finish the edges and any trim work. Loose asphalt and any debris created by the paving is scooped up and disposed of leaving you with a beautiful new asphalt driveway.

If you have an asphalt or tar and chip paving project coming up, and you are interested in affordability, professionalism, and a no hassle experience, give us a call now and let’s talk.
